Insert leader from below

Pass the leader upward through the braid triangle from below.

Build 12–13 alternating wraps

Twist the triangle after each pass to build 12–13 alternating braid wraps around the leader.

Hold the completed weave

Keep the completed 12–13-wrap weave aligned and under tension.

Add one locking half hitch

Tie one half hitch with the braid tag around both the braid standing line and leader, clear of the weave.

Wet and tension all three ends

Wet the knot, hold the braid tag separately, and pull the braid standing line and leader firmly apart.

Add about five half hitches

Cover the transition

Cover the trimmed transition with about three braid half hitches.

Finish with a doubled pass
